A truly special piece for this writer’s style, balancing a masculine shape with a surprisingly delicate profile and softly rounded edges. At 31mm, it has proportions that work particularly well on either a man or woman.
This vintage Vacheron Constantin reference 7254 from circa the 1970s is crafted in 18k white gold with a slick brushed finish across the broad case surface, contrasted by highly polished sides. At only 4.5mm thin, the case has an incredibly low profile on the wrist.
The silvered dial continues the monochromatic look with a lighter brushed finish look, applied baton hour markers and slim dark hands. Even the black crocodile strap becomes part of the case design, partially recessing beneath the case at either end rather than attaching to conventional exposed lugs.
Fitted with an A.W.-signed 18k white gold buckle, which carries through the same brushed finish found on the case.
