An unusual Audemars Piguet reference 6009SA dating circa the 1980s. Measuring 29mm, the angular case combines stainless steel with 18k yellow gold and flows directly into its integrated two-tone bracelet. The grey petite tapisserie dial features an applied gold AP logo at 12 o’clock, slim applied baton hour markers and matching gold hands. Powered by an Audemars Piguet quartz movement.
The integrated bracelet remains notably tight for its age, retaining its structure and easily standing upright on its own, as shown in the photographs. It is finished with a signed AP folding clasp and safety lock.
While not officially designated a Royal Oak by Audemars Piguet, the reference 6009SA is very much in line with the Royal Oak series, sharing the integrated bracelet, angular casework and tapisserie dial that defined the era. Often referred to by collectors as the “Royal Oak Square,” it makes for an interesting and less commonly seen piece of 1980s Audemars Piguet design.
