Rolex Explorer I Ref. 1016 Double Signed “Tiffany & Co." – Circa Late 1970s

A Rolex Explorer I reference 1016 in stainless steel, dating to the late 1970s and distinguished by its double-signed Tiffany & Co. dial. The matte black dial carries the familiar Explorer configuration with Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, luminous baton hour markers, white minute hashes, and Mercedes-style hands.

The luminous material remains present across the dial and hands, though no longer full or puffy, and has developed patina consistent with the watch’s age. Adding another interesting detail, Tiffany & Co. inventory numbers are hand-inscribed beneath one of the lugs.

Powered by the Rolex caliber 1570 automatic movement and fitted with a Rolex 78360 Oyster bracelet with 501B end links, dated 1989. The combination of the familiar reference 1016 design with the discreet Tiffany & Co. signature makes for a particularly interesting variation of one of Rolex’s most recognizable vintage sports watches.
