The Vendôme has seen numerous iterations over its roughly 30-year lifespan, and this ladies’ example dates to the 1980s. The 18k yellow gold case features a soft, double-stepped bezel with cutouts at either end to accommodate a strap that integrates seamlessly into the design. It showcases Cartier’s signature bright white dial with black Roman numerals, an inner minute track, and blued steel hands—showing a slight discoloration at the tip—and is signed Paris at the bottom. The piece is distinguished by a large blue cabochon crown and an unusually substantial 18k tang buckle, adding a sense of presence to its small proportions. Powered by a caliber 2412 manual-wind movement. An intriguing detail is the presence of import marks from Zona Franca de Manaus, Brazil on both the case back and buckle. Fitted with a Cartier dark burgundy leather strap, this elegant piece carries a refined vintage charm with just enough character for everyday wear.
