An exquisite example of Vacheron Constantin’s mid-century elegance, this timepiece dates from approximately 1945 to 1950 and showcases a stunning combination of form and craftsmanship. The standout feature is its sculptural “grasshopper” or “horn” lugs—an exaggerated, dramatic design element that embodies the era’s adventurous case styling.
The true star, however, is the intricate guilloché dial that shimmers beautifully under light, framed by a gold dotted minute track. Gold baton and Arabic numerals adorn the dial, complemented by slender gold hands that complete harmonious composition.
A signed crown bearing the Vacheron logo is present—possibly a service replacement, though it remains visually consistent and does not detract from the watch’s charm. A service sticker remains on the case back, suggesting to the watch’s careful maintenance over the decades.
Powering the watch is a Vacheron Caliber P454/5B manual wind movement. The acrylic crystal has been recently replaced, ensuring excellent visibility while preserving the vintage character.
Simply put, this is a remarkable vintage Vacheron that wears elegantly and commands attention with its distinctive lugs and radiant dial—a collector-worthy piece with timeless appeal.
