So rarely encountered, these dainty vintage Rolex bracelet watches—especially the enchanting “peekaboo” variations—are true treasures. This Precision reference 8944 in 18k yellow gold dates to the 1940s and has remarkably preserved its original hinged cover. The gently domed lid is faceted into a delicate floral motif, catching and scattering the light beautifully. It snaps shut nicely and holds open fully when reading the time.
Beneath the cover lies a white dial fitted with raised gold dot hour markers and elegant gold dauphine hands, maintaining a refined simplicity in keeping with the era.
The integrated 18k gold bracelet wears more like fine jewelry than a watch and is signed Rolex, with the brand’s crown emblem featured on the clasp. Small rings remain at the sides, once intended to accommodate a safety chain—an optional detail one could choose to reintroduce. Multiple import hallmarks are present, and a subtle engraving appears along the lip of the cover, though its meaning remains unknown.
Powered by the petite manual-wind caliber 280, this lightweight and charming piece feels foremost like jewelry, with the added delight of hidden timekeeping. A captivating and collector-worthy vintage Rolex, accompanied by a Rolex box.
