Rolex Explorer I Ref. 1016 Double Signed “Tiffany & Co." – Circa Late 1970s
A rare and highly collectible example of the iconic Rolex Explorer I, reference 1016, crafted in stainless steel during the late 1970s and originally retailed by Tiffany & Co., one of the most sought-after co-brandings in the vintage Rolex world. This 36 mm piece features a matte black dial with “Tiffany & Co.” signature, baton lume hour markers, and the signature Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock — a hallmark of the Explorer’s design. The luminous material, though not full or puffy, remains present across the dial and hands, exhibiting patina that enhances its vintage character. White minute hash marks and Mercedes-style hands with aged lume stand out sharply against the dark dial, preserving the legibility and tool-watch ethos for which the Explorer line is celebrated. Tiffany & Co. hand-inscribed inventory numbers are visible beneath one of the lugs. The watch is paired with a steel Oyster bracelet dated to 1989, offering a comfortable and classic wear while maintaining period-correct form. A great addition to any serious vintage collection, this Explorer I 1016 combines the rugged elegance of Rolex with the exclusive prestige of Tiffany & Co.
