First released in 1945, the Rolex “Datejust” was the first pressure proof timepiece that offered a self-winding calendar chronometer option that changed the date in the dial window. The Datejust was also the first Rolex watch that utilized the “cyclops window” to magnify the date, making it easier to see. In the 70’s there were many changes to be implemented to the Datejust, like a new movement, dial and case design along with changing to real sapphire crystal versus acrylic plastic crystal of the past.
Our ROLEX 1601 1970 Datejust with it's beautiful "Door Stop" markers is complimented by the original dial, hands and crown. Also, with the 20 mm premium brown leather strap that comes with this timepiece provides a very casual and sporty look. This watch features crystal as well as back gasket has been installed.
