A vintage and rare Mido New York World’s Fair in stainless steel, crafted circa 1939, a commemoration to the World’s Fair of New York in 1939, displayed in the Swiss Pavilion. The case is unpolished, stamped “rustless steel” and “staybrite”, and features grooved edges resembling an old postage stamp, the original fitted glass crystal and a hand wound movement. The silvered dial contains a schematic depicting the central symbols of the fair: two monumental structures (Trylon and Perisphere), the Perisphere is cleverly integrated as the subsidiary seconds, the letters WORLD’S FAIR circling the perimeter serving as the hour markers and are flanked by a dot. Fitted with what we believe to be the original leather strap and plated buckle from that era.
