A fine Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 5000J in 18k yellow gold, dating from the 1990s. Measuring 34mm, the case is defined by extended, slightly curved lugs and houses a glossy black dial with applied gold Arabic numerals, gold hands, and an inner minute track with arrow markers at each five-second increment. An off-centered subsidiary seconds dial at 4/5 o’clock echoes the same design. The exhibition case back shows the caliber 240 PS automatic movement, notable for its beautifully finished micro 22k gold rotor. It is fitted with a Patek Philippe black crocodile strap and secured by a Patek deployant clasp. A distinctive interpretation of the Calatrava, the 5000J is admired for its asymmetry, elegant proportions, and elegant movement.
