A rare and unusual Omega from the 1960s, this reference 14741 is distinguished by its ultra-thin caliber 540 hand-wind movement, measuring just 2 mm thick and developed in 1958, as well as its unusually faceted sapphire crystal. The effect is striking — the same watch can appear altered when viewed from changing angles. The design draws inspiration from the original Omega “Damier,” created for Neiman Marcus in 1969 and using a 7-carat diamond crystal to simulate diamond-like facets. This relaunch, instead, employed a high-strength sapphire crystal — innovative for the era. An example of this watch is even featured on Omega’s official vintage collection, underscoring its significance. A captivating and seldom-seen model, it stands as both a technical milestone and a remarkable highlight for the thoughtful collector.
The service history of this Omega piece is unknown, a service is recommended. It runs and keeps time.
