Gérald Genta, an iconic figure in the watch world, also produced pieces under his own name—such as this striking skeletonized example from the 1980s. Crafted in 18k yellow gold, the watch is a highly elevated, diamond-forward design, featuring a diamond-set bezel surrounding the round case, with floating round diamond hour markers suspended within the clear chapter ring.
The manually wound movement is fully skeletonized and visible from both front and back, with beautifully decorated golden bridges that serve as both structure and visual centerpiece. Time is indicated by slim black hands, allowing the intricate mechanics to remain the focus. The black printed Gérald Genta signature and “Swiss” designation are clearly visible through the transparent chapter ring, along with the stem of the diamond-set crown.
Originally fitted with single diamond-set T-bar lugs attached to a supple Genta-signed 18k gold bracelet—featuring partially perforated pod-style links—this piece has been thoughtfully modified for added versatility. The lugs have been adapted with two discreet screws, allowing for easy interchangeability between the original bracelet and a leather strap.
A distinctive vintage creation, this watch wears beautifully in both configurations, whether paired with its original gold bracelet or the black alligator strap provided.
