Part of Cartier’s highly luxurious, jewelry-oriented line of watches, the Andine is designed with playful asymmetry and geometric forms, outfitted with exceptional gem-setting as seen in this circa late 1980s to early 1990s example. Asscher-cut diamonds are fitted seamlessly within the hexagonal bezel, each stone precisely arranged with no interruption to the silhouette. Larger Asscher-cut diamonds flank the case, topped by bars of round brilliant diamonds, while the diamond-set crown completes the dazzling composition.
The dial is a departure from the Maison’s more familiar signatures, featuring a clean white backdrop with black printed pointed stick markers juxtaposed against Arabic quarters, complemented by Cartier’s signature blued-steel hands. We have paired the watch with two strap options: a robin’s egg blue leather strap for a playful pop of color, or a black leather strap for a more formal aesthetic. Fastened by a Cartier signed 18k yellow gold deployant clasp.
The inner case back is stamped “CHO,” 18k Swiss, and the piece is powered by the manual wind caliber 852 movement. Striking, sculptural, and increasingly rare to encounter.
